The Sanctuary
I recently had the pleasure of shooting a twilight shot of a Wrightsville Beach home known as the Sanctuary. a very upscale Designer home in an area of Wrightsville beach known as Sunset Lagoon. When I shot the home I decided to use HDR and really bring out the colors. I did a three exposure set and then exported the file from Lightroom to Photomatix Pro. Using its 32 bit-merging Tone Mapping Tool I toned mapped the HDR image in the Details Enhancer mode. Once I got the image where i liked it I saved it and then fine tuned it in Photo Shop.
I like the pop of colors I can bring out with an HDR image and in the right photo, the surreal effect you can achieve. In this case I mainly wanted to feature the home and capture the full range of luminance for that time of day, but keep the surreal look to a minimum. its a neat process, HDR, and I have fun using it in certain applications.
